Project Inception
Upon a signed Web Services Contract, the project manager should begin to prepare the project for communication, information intake and execution. This is essential to ensure that we’re laying the foundation for a successful project.
- Pre-Setup
- Internal Kick-off
- External (Client) Kick-off
- Milestones
Pre-Setup
The project manager should confirm that web services are added to Salesforce.
The project manager should create a new trello board for the client by copying the Project Template board and add any information known thus far.
- The project manager should schedule the internal kickoff call.
- Include the development lead, designer, copywriter, DSM stakeholder, SE0 stakeholder, and DGS stakeholder.
- The project manager should then schedule the external/client kickoff call.
- Include the client list, designer, copywriter, DSM stakeholder, SEO stakeholder, and DGS stakeholder.
- Setup intial project schedule on Planyway.
Internal Kick-off
- Introduce the project at a high-level.
- Set project goals, which typically fall into four categories.
- Business goals
- Project goals
- Conversion goals
- Non-goals
It’s important to keep all goals SMART (specific, measureable, achieveable, relevant & time-bound).
External Kick-off
- Introduce the project to the group.
- Review relevant project goals from internal kick-off.
- Copy Kickoff Agenda, follow process & take notes.
- Send out follow-up email
- Email template
- Add schedule to Web Construction Phases trello board.
- Share schedule with client.
Milestones
Using trello, the project manager will create a schedule of deliverables which will consist of internal and external delivery dates for items and milestones critical to the success of the project. Items included in the milestones should include:
- Deliverables
- Feedback
- Assets
- Content
- Sign-off
- Final Review
- Launch
Continue to populate the trello board as more information is received and emend the Planyway schedule accordingly.
